An early prototype helps turn a concept into something that can be tested. It can focus on a single mechanic, a basic environment and a short gameplay loop.
The aim at this stage is to evaluate the interaction, identify limitations and decide what is worth developing further. Art, content and additional systems can follow once the core experience is established.
